Weather + Weekend + Water + Friends

As the end of our 3rd year approaches, many of us are planning out our fourth years, setting exam dates, and already getting a little antsy about the next USMLE we will be taking all too soon. I'm picking a medical field with a relatively demanding three years, and as this year comes to a close on a fairly balanced and sane schedule, I am already getting a bit anxious about the tough months to come. For that reason, I've gotten a bit zealous about trying to get the most of my free time right now. Whether that means vegging on the couch with friends, spending time with my family, or getting myself outdoors.

This weekend, we did the latter. Spent Sat night camping at a surprisingly nice little campground in the Austin Creek Recreation Area (near Guerneville) and then spent the next day kayaking on the Russian River (and burning our bodies in the sun). The weekend seemed to last twice as long, I remembered the pleasure of floating on/in water, and I got to sleep outside under the redwoods for the first time this year. Today, I'm ready to be back on the water again (though maybe with a bit more shade.)
