After watching (a bit) of today's Korea vs France game, I was reminded about just how inadequate it is to watch the World Cup on TV. The energy in the stadium was unbelievable, with the Korean fans drumming and chanting and the French fans singing various anthems (how many are there again?), and the broadcasters, locked in their little booths with their mouths right next to the microphones, could barely be heard over the noise at times. Maybe, if this exam I'm taking goes poorly and I end up in some non-competitive residency in Idaho, I'll have time to sneak off to South Africa for an amazing once-in-a-lifetime world cup experience in 2010.
...oh, yeah. and it would be pretty nice to see South Africa, too.
