still here
Been better at not procrastinating lately and hence, this blog has been ignored. I saw an interesting new patient in our Psych class today: a jolly 40ish year old woman who said she was back in the ward because at the last group home she was living in "they were feeding me babies". She was very friendly and nice, and answered our questions with five minute monologues on everything from a history on Santa Claus (he tried to commit suicide because he had too many presents to deliver) to the sad story about how her child was taken away from her by a social worker as soon as he was born. Sometimes, her childlike manner overtook her and there were a few awkward moments where she couldn't stop giggling to herself as she was telling us about the 9 policemen who were hiding and masturbating in her closet. (Who wouldn't be cracking up if they saw that?!) As I was telling a friend of mine about this day, I said that this patient was our first "real" schizophrenic because, well, the last one was a woman who talked to the Devil and was told to start a holy war. Given that our President talks to God and starts holy wars...well, you get my point.
