Buring the hatchet with the USMLE
We got our scores back today. They came a week earlier than expected, and the news that they were out spread very quickly among everyone still traumatized by the stress of the test. I received my score seconds after hearing from a classmate of mine who had scored in the 99th percentile. Not a good way to start. I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but fortunately, I also didn't get a score anywhere near one I had feared. I do have to admit that I had some definite moments of regret, especially about all those days I had become distracted and unfocused prior to the test, but then I decided to grow up and move on. Entering a profession full of smart over-achievers has been strikingly humbling.
