Pharm final tomorrow and I'm getting desperate. My mind is not built for memorizing random names. So at times like this I start getting a little desperate with my mnemonics:
Lecture on animal toxins:
4 fish in the family scorpanidae, the most dangerous fish family (tiger fish, lion fish, scorpion fish, stone fish)
"The stoned scorpion was fighting tigers and lions"
3 examples of colentereates (jelly fish, portuguese man of war, sea wasp)
"I sail the sea for portuguese jelly"
3 fish with similar venoms to stingray: (weever fish, catfish, surgeonfish)
"The surgeon was weeving because he got stung by his cat's whiskers"
What toxin is responsible for paralytic shellfish poisoning? (Saxitoxin, symptoms include numbness, tingling, paralysis, respiratory arrest)
"Numb and tingling, he was paralyzed by the saxi, breathtaking woman in the clam shell"
Three fish responsible for ciguatera poisoning (Red snapper, dolfinfish, barracuda)
This one is a bit of a stretch, um, unlike the other ones: "The Red Dolphin Baracuda was smoking too much ciguatera"
