I love this photo.
It is of my grandmother (second from right) and grandfather (first from left) soon after the war ended. They are in Stockholm, weeks after they met and decided to marry. My grandmother had been in the Polish Resistance and after she was captured, she was sent to the Ravensbruck concentration camp for the remaining years of the war. When it was liberated, the prisoners were taken in by kind Swedish families who helped them recuperate. Many Poles never left. My grandmother, however, happened to meet my grandfather, an engineer on a Polish Navy submarine which had been interned in Sweden, and they returned to Poland soon after this photo was taken.
