wow

I flew from Sacremento to Little Rock today, via Denver. When we took off from the Denver airport, the sun was setting behind the Rocky mountains. It was a beautiful sight because there was a thick ceiling of clouds above the sunset and rain diffusing into it. I definitely felt like I had left school far, far behind. Later in our flight, and as dusk was just fading to night, we passed an isolated, thick, aggregation of cumulus thunder clouds probably as large as a mountain or an entire range (it's hard to tell up there). It was bursting with lightening; and every second or so a shadowy and cream-thick section of the cloud would light up for a brief moment. It was haunting and beautiful. It seemed like we were only a few hundred feet away and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Fireworks don't even compare. Maybe sitting in the middle of the playa underneath the vast dessert night sky and surrounded a square mile of twinkling lights, fire dancers and lazer shows could compare to the grandiosity of the experience... but then, I was completely sober on my flight.
