It's been over a year since I last wrote here. Residency is unsurprisingly time/energy consuming, and the blog had fallen far down on my priority list after family, sleep, friends and attempts at life outside the hospital.
Now, however, as I near the end of my second year of Residency, I get the amazing opportunity to break away from the stress and burnout of this small, intense world I have found myself in, and realign my perspective a bit. In four days, I leave for a month in Rwanda. There, I will be trying to find a purpose for my rather focused medical skills - and remind myself of the vast experience of human existence - while living in the Northern Province and visiting/working at a local hospital and several nearby village clinics.
I'll try to keep the blog updated, so stay tuned.
