Tomorrow is The Match. I'm a bit anxious, but I'm also keenly aware that I am not experiencing the same trepidation as some of my friends and classmates (who are striving for more competitive residencies and did not rank their alma mater first).

Tomorrow at 8am, my entire class gets together for breakfast and the handing out of the special envelopes that hold the answer to everyone's future (at least for the next 3-5 years, but likely for much longer on.) Some of my closest friends will match far away, but hopefully, everyone will get to go where they will be happy.

The anxiety has been building for weeks, if not months, and has expressed itself through compulsive and repetitive discussions, frequent class bonding parties, and yes, lots of heavy drinking. Despite meeting as complete strangers three and a half years ago, despite splitting into the normal cliques that are created in every large group, tomorrow the 99 (or so) of us will be bonded by a pretty significant moment in our lives.

...And then, of course, we will party some more.

As for me these days, I've been packing up my life in boxes, many many boxes. I am not yet done packing, but am already starting to feel apologetic to my movers for all the books I have gathered these past 10 years. And then there are the many shampoo bottles, soaps and lotions, reusable (though rarely reused) office supplies, potential burning man outfits, and one pound bags of bean soup that I've hoarded for no reason. In case of WWIII, I invite everyone to my storage shed...you will be clean, you will eat well, and you will be wearing lots of furs, negligees and blinkies.

On Tuesday, I set out on what promises to be a pretty darn cool trip around the world. Countries covered include Hungary, England, Poland, Germany, India and Singapore. More on that later. I hope to at least post a bit from the trip, as long as I can get my hands on a computer.
