About
I started this to keep up with friends and family while in medical school. Now it's just a place where I procrastinate, whine and waste way too much cosmic energy on what should have just been a passing thought in my head. ********************************* A DISCLAIMER (some useful language stolen from lonecoyote11 - thanks, friend!): I have been HIPAA trained and respect the privacy of my patients. The patient stories you read here have been changed to protect all identities. Sometimes I'll publish a story months after I've seen someone; sometimes I'll combine several patients into one. Always, I'll change identifying characteristics, such as age, gender, profession, specific illness, etc. I do not make stories up and I do my damnest to preserve the heart of my patient's experiences without revealing their identities. If someone mentioned here sounds like your grandma, you can ponder the singleness of the human experience, but no, it's not her.
The Queen Mary II is the largest ship ever to enter the Bay. It arrived at San Francisco yesterday, amid an extraordinary welcome that left even the ship's passengers in tears, and is leaving tonight. Traffic on the Golden Gate came to a complete stop as the ship passed underneath. It's pretty amazing.
